Wish Upon A Hero

We all know about wish upon a star. Who hasn't done such a thing? Remember how hopeful we were as kids. The moment you noticed a shooting star, you quickly cried out your wish for a new toy. Or for mommy and daddy to be famous. Something childish. Only at the time you thought it was the greatest thing ever.

Or if you managed to see the north star. I can't remember how many times I found that North Star and thought to myself "oh yay I found it!". Of course I always make childish wishes. That my stepmom was nicer. That I had bigger breasts (yes, even when I was 10 I still wished on those stars).

Now, you don't need to wish on a star to make them come true. There's a place you can go to make a wish, and a hero will find you. No, this isn't some sort of scam. It's all real.

Remember that post I made about the cards Tori received? I made a wish for those. I wished that people from all over would send her a birthday card. I wanted her to feel special and loved. The results? An overwhelming response. All strangers. Taking time from their day to be a birthday hero.

It's not just for cards. You can wish for anything. No wish is too big or too small. I remember at the beginning of winter my electric blanket burned out. My bedroom doesn't get very warm and the heat doesn't work so great in here. We were already using space heaters in the kids' rooms. So no way was I adding to that bill. I made a wish for a new electric blanket. Not even a week later, I received my hero. Some kind stranger spent THEIR money to grant my wish, and kept me warm. I'll never forget her.

Perhaps you need help with a bill? Maybe you just need a little extra cash to take your kids for ice cream. Maybe you need help getting your prescriptions. It's endless.

This place is called Wish Upon A Hero. I dare you to check it out. Can you be someone's hero? Do you have an extra postage stamp and some paper? If so, you too can be a hero! Some people think they need to be made of money to make someone's wish come true. But that's not that case.

Did you know you could be a hero just by offering someone a My Coke Rewards Code? Or even just sending them an email! Wish Upon A Hero (WUAH) has a category for everyone!

Do you have a wish? Have you always wanted to make a difference but never knew how?

Here's your chance. What are you waiting for?

Cards Galore!

Tori got tons and tons of cards for her birthday. It was awesome. She had well over 20 cards. And all from people that don't even know her! I know, how scary that strangers are sending her cards. But it was a request I made. And it turned out well.

A few cards were from family and friends. But I think her favorite ones were the cards she received in the mail. Most cards has stickers inside for her. And a few even had money! We were both tickled over the money (like I said it came from people that we don't even know).

Overall, it was a great outcome. And added to her great birthday.

I'll try to make a post later and explain where she got all the cards. They came from a great community of people. Even you could have the same requests made for you, your children or just anyone you feel needs cheering up and it's all free!

Tori's Birthday Party

So we finally had Tori's birthday party. Her birthday was actually January 29th. But weather kept ruining plans. Was originally set for January 22nd-ish. But we got snowed in and roads were bad. So had to call parents and let them know it was canceled. Didn't want to risk anyone getting in an accident. And of course the weekend of her birthday she wasn't home. And the weekend after was no good because there was still tons of snow out from the blizzard.

But, it finally happened. And it went well. She had 4 of 10 friends show up (hey better then last year!). They all brought her a gift. I ordered pizza for lunch for the whole bunch. Oddly enough we had ton left over.

We had one girl stay over. Tori wanted them all to stay over, but I'm not mentally equipped for that many extra squealing girls! But I let her pick one to stay and it went well.

Tori is in the front middle. The shortest of the bunch. So sad too lol. The other girls were the same age, yet she is the smallest, by a lot!

And here's sort of a picture of the cake. I forgot to take a good one. And only managed this one because Josie was playing with the camera.

So there you have it :)

Snow Storm of 2011

It started off slow. Not much out there. And in a matter of seconds, it was coming down hard. You could hardly see a thing. Driving was not safe (yeah, we ventured out. Had an appointment I was NOT going to miss just because mother nature was having a fit).

I just couldn't believe how much snow we got. I mean, we couldn't see the ground at all. People were getting snowed into their homes. It was bad. We weren't prepared for such a storm.

Toys were lost in the snow. Not that you could actually play. You'd lose some kids out there!

After a while, I lost my rose bush. We were pretty close to losing the road sign too, that's just how bad it was lol. I attempted to walk up close to my roses, but got just a little scared. I was afraid the snow would take me down. If I had fell, I seriously would have had problems getting back up. Like hell I was taking that risk

Here's some more random pictures of the storm. The day after we shoveled a LOT. Helped neighbors get out of their homes (for some reason our back porch was CLEAR). We even shoveled the back street we live on. Some people still had to get to work. Families to feed, bills to pay. You know how it goes.

That's the back porch up there. Snow covered the steps, but not the actual porch lol. This is how we got out after the storm for the first day.

That was my front porch. Couldn't see a thing.

Josie's jeep. Guess she wasn't driving anywhere anytime soon LOL.

Can you see the neighbor's car? Don't worry, I had problems finding it too.

And that is my wonderful husband. He was out helping with the shoveling. He's such a great guy.

Ya'll still here? That's it for pictures. With as many as I added, this post became super long lol

See That Tree?

I've been hiding for a while now. Lots of things happened since I last posted.

Tori turned 9 years old. I can't believe she's growing up so fast! She's not a baby anymore. And oh my she is so very intelligent. Her birthday was January 29th. Still no party though. Had some crazy snow storms here in Missouri. I mean an all out blizzard. I'll have to post pictures of that sometime. Crazy, I can't believe how much snow is out there.

Still having problems with my ankle. Only, I found out it's not an actual ankle problem. It's all in my back! Apparently I have herniated discs. I'm still confused by all this and just don't know what to think. Kinda weird that my pain isn't even related to the area it's in. Who knows.

I'm supposed to get epidural injections to help fix the problem. I'm kinda scared to you the truth. I've never even heard of this. Only time I've heard of an epidural is when you're having a baby. And I'm pretty sure this isn't the same thing. Can't be. It's supposed to be an in and out sort of thing. I'll have to do more research into it.

Oh well. I think I'll get moving. Going to do a quick sweep of the whole house and get some sleep. I'll be back soon with more updates! I know I want to show you all the snow storm we got over here.
